    Personal MPG Record!

Having just done a 450 mile round trip up North and back I managed to break my previous mpg record (27.2mpg) twice, firstly with a 28.7 (verified with a fill-up) on the way up and then, with a concerted effort and dangerous obsession with the instantaneous mpg meter, a 29.7 . Not necessarily the most exciting or life-changing news for most but I'm proper chuffed so going to shout about it! Just goes to show that when running correctly an S2 csn be vaguely economical!

Would be interested in other's mpg records and the gains that could be expected from a remap, freer flowing exhaust etc. Modifications are all in the name of fuel economy improvement... right?!

Best I have ever done was 24 mpg on the way up to Scotland, doing 55 - 70 mph most of the way...

(Mine has a AMD chip which I don't think is the most frugal out there..... )

Good effort Andy. (If a little sad! )

    Cheers,

I bet i could increase that even more for you in the future.. got a new project cumming on at work.

Its supposed to increase your MPG by 17-20% by coating the piston and chamber with a very thin coat of organic matter.

This product has already undergone over a million miles of road testing in the states on engines including Supercharged V8's and huge hummers.

It will be available in the UK through Resonance in the next few weeks

Impressive! My best long-distance was IRO 28mpg, about 75 all the way to the lakes. I got 380miles outta the tank, and had about a gallon left. I managed 30.0 on a 70mph run from Swindon recently, and once made 32.5mpg on a 30mph 10-mile trundle home in the world's densest fog, following the world's densest driver.

My recent tank was the best in a long time, 24.6 and all sub-20mile journeys, until I hit the 1,000 mile barrier and plugged the WGFV in. I dread the average on my next tank.

My personal best is 8.2l/100km which is about 34.5 uk-mpg for a full tank distance.

That's on average speed of ~80km/h.

Can usually get 31-32 mpg over the various runs down south to different events (average run is around 650 miles there and back), stick around 3k which I'm assuming is about 80-85mph on the motorway..

How the hell do you keep to 3000 rpm at 4.00am in the morning on deserted Scottish roads?????

Last time I drove in Scotland early in the morning I cruised at 120mph and averaged over 100....

You must have the patience of a saint!

some of us who use our cars every day take them on roads with corners, dirt and sheep before we can get to the nice big blue roads on the map...

did manage to get to over 160 on that nice M40 though

My best is 31.1 (by the trip comp.), and I think just over 30 verified by a fill-up.

My Avant is standard apart from a Milltek exhaust and K&N air filter and on a regular run I do up north i can usually manage 32mpg with the cruise switched on at a steady 70+ mph
S2 Avant......fully loaded   Slipper Wagons Rule !!!!!

@ Fatty, yes it was truly sad and very boring! Much prefer to cruise home at pace but needs must as the wallet was empty this month!

@APG, cruise on an S2 must be rather useful as I just find it creeping up to 'normal' motorway speed when attempting to keep it at 70! It just needs to go faster at that speed...
