Camshaft does not turn after cylinder head replacement

Ok i am totally fed up with my car why can nothing ever be easy

I have had a new used ABY cylinder head put onto my S2 ABY but just at the last minute before being started up my garage tells me that the camshaft off my old head is not sitting right or doesnt fit the replacment. Its not turning by hand they say its only very slightly too big like hairs width or somthing

Does anybody know what to try to fix this?

More likely that one or more of the camshaft caps have been replaced out of sequence or the wrong way around, great care should also be taken when installing the cams, as it easy to crack the caps if the job is not done properly.

Did they use the caps off of the old head?

Make sure the chains are installed properly and make sure you have put loads of oil on the cam fasteners before installing them, also put loads of oil over the lifters, it gets very tight with the extra friction of missing oil to turn 20 lifters and the 2 cams.

Thanks guys for all the info I really appreciate it i printed the diagram maybe that will help.
No I have not taken it to that garage but i have had one experience with them years ago luckily it was only a new number plate which they glued on, which subsequently fell off in the heat one week later

Another point to remember that using different cams and cam caps is a bad idea, they are line bored from new and shouldn't be mixed up, that could be your problem if the caps are fitted round the right way.
