    What boost on 3bar map?

    Hi,

    I'm guessing the answer is "2bar + atm pressure = 3bar, idiot"

I have a quick question - what's the implications when you put a GT-series turbo on the car? I understand that to get 400bhp outta say the 3071, you'd be running some serious boost pressure. Does this mean the map sensor has to be changed?? Is this something covered in a re-map? Just wondering how it works (and to ensure i know the costs of going this route, as my budget is very slim now to finish the project!) so some BTDT would be appreciated!

Any ideas how hard the 3071 would need to be pushed to give 400ft/lbs and 400bhp?

    Cheers

Ross mate, the 2871 will make 450 bhp easily so will the 3071bhp at not that high a boost pressure.

There are plots of the 2871 and 3071 turbo in your rs2 competition turbo thread and also Pekka's 400 threads

You'll probably run around 420 on your setup because i believe you have RS2 injectors

You are correct on the map sensor, MRC normally include it in the price of the remap (well they used too!)

Cheers mate... spent way too much of last night's shift @ work reading up and going thru figures in my head. If i splash out, on this one, that's it, credit card thoroughly melted and no more money to do fogotten extras this side of christmas!! Hence the paranoid questions... Why can't money just grow on trees?

For sale.. one soul, for the mere price of a donut and a 3071 kit!

A GT series turbo has the ballbearing technology where less gasses are required to spool the blades due to a lower friction of the more accurate bearings. You also tend to get more choice in the GT range and can mix match parts. You can run a larger turbo with moderatley quicker spool than that of an journal bearing turbo.

What map sensor are you using at the moment? If im not mistaken the stock is a 2.5 bar? so that would give you around 19-20 psi. Power will depend on how well your system/cylinder head flows.

Map sensors work on by 0-5v range, a bigger map sensor will have still the 0-5v range but values will be displaced for 29.7 psi of boost pressure for 3 bar map sensor, your ecu will need to be calibrated for this particular map sensor.

A well configured GT30R is a tasty mix.

Currently I'm running i think 1.45bar... the sensor is 3bar I'm sure (when it had a custom MRC remap) but this was before i bought the car. From what I've read this may be sufficient for my needs anyway, don't think I need to be pushing >30psi to make 400bhp on a 3071 by the looks of things.
