More turbo replacement questions - sorry!

I've got a list of parts needed to replace the turbo, gaskets, seals etc by looking thorugh EKTA. Hopefully Martyn will be getting back to me with a price. (Martyn, I emailed you)

I was wondering if it is worth replacing the nuts etc. Some on EKTA (like the nuts used to attach the turbo to the manifold) are listed as slef locking. Should they be replaced when removed?

Also it mentions hot-bolt-paste. What is this and I guess I use it on all the bolts around the turbo / exhaust assembly?

Apologies for all these questions but I like to know everything before I strat and then hopefully I won't have forgotten anything that crops and means the car sits whilst I wait for parts.

    Cheers again

Yes - replace / renew any and all nuts and bolts on this task unless there is a very good reason. The little extra cost is justified, makes for an easier installation, looks better etc etc

Have you checked all the PCV stuff yet ?

I doubt your turbo is damaged after only 55k miles. That would certainly be unusual.

PS - I need to send you a PM about something else... Watch out for it !

I'm guessing I can use nuts and bolts from my local industrial fastening place and not audi specific ones!

I talked to AET about the mileage and they said it did seem unusual. They did suggest carbon build up as a possibility?

I've checked some of the PCV stuff and it seems OK. I'm having a problem with the clips on the pipes though, do I need circlip pliers or something specific? I can't seem to get them of without knackering them

I'll keep an eye out for the PM. For info I'm away from Saturday on hols and won't be back at a PC until the 20th July.

      Cheers

Leigh, you can reuse the nuts that are holding the turbo to the exhaust manifold and the ones holding the dowpipe to the turbo, they are made of titanium and will cost you an arm and a leg to replace....

          Titanium mine look rusty though

What is the hot bolt paste on EKTA is it high temp grease or is it high temp locking compound?
