    Air/Fuel mixture is too rich

    Hey guys,

I’m having a problem these days with my S2 Avant ABY. The thing is that we measured my ABY-s air/fuel mixture with WB lambda and it is around 10 (even 9,5 sometimes) under acceleration. I’m using software that is meant for RS2 (RS2 stage 2), 391ccm@3bar injectors, 3-5bar fuel pressure regulator, stock fuel pump and T04/K26 turbo. Right now the fuel pressure regulator is set to the lowest level (3.0 bar, haven’t measured) and still mixture is too rich.

What do you think guys, what could be the problem? Is it possible that software is programmed like that? What is the use of it?

By the way, fault code that keeps appearing is:

    00561 - Mixture Adaptation
13-00 - Adaptation Limit (Mul) Not Reached

One more thing. When I take gear off and let the car running, revs drop down to 300rpm and come back (that doesnt happen every time), sometimes motor even shuts down. Might be those two things connected somehow?

Any help is more than welcome!

    Marko

Sounds like you have an air leak after the MAF. The ECU thinks a certain amount of air is going to get to the cylinders but it doesn't. Pressure test the hoses between the turbo and the throttle body. On a related note, the problem could be the Idle Stabilization Valve (ISV) is leaking the air. That would account for both problems. Check the hose connection and the condition of the ISV.

We just completely rebuilt intake system. The thing is that "that 300rpm problem" was before we rebuilt it too. Maybe they are connected somehow, maybe not. But we haven’t done pressure test yet, this is next thing that we are going to do.

Could that be connected to the problem somehow that be put solenoid pressure hose after turbo about 20cm? We did that because it was convenient that way. Usually it’s connected to the turbo.

One more thing, I’m using 300kpa map sensor as well.

EDIT: We didnt connect sump ventilation. Is it a problem?

Check it you TPS clics when moving the throttle and clics when you release it again.

Problem is HW/SW. You need full ADU setup that it works like planned at the factory.
Check what EFI related parts are different.

          Some difference story here:

AFR 9.5 to 10 wears the engine quickly. If you continue, change the oil so often that the oil does not smell benzin. What barand injectors ? Probably your sw also makes high boost over 2bar ?

generic RS2 "spec" chips are risky/ to use....and this is most likely your problem.

A custom remap is the way forward

Sorry, but I dont understand your abbreviations. What do you mean by HW/SW?

Im using that FPR - http://www.034motorsport.com/product...roducts_id=174
                  turbo - http://www.034motorsport.com/product...products_id=43
injectors - 391ccm@3bar, dont know brand.

So when I will change cams, turbo etc everything will be normal? Probably Im not going to do that.. But I have to way a solution to get this car RUNNING!

I have offered chips for my cars setup ca 380-400ps. But thats over the internet. How can I be sure that with that chipset air/fuel mixture wont be the same? Nobody is gonna give my money back..

Maybe I should use ABY stage 1 ca 290ps software?

                  Any ideas from you guys?

Go and do custom remap at any of the respectable tuners. If Lithuania has several - Estonia should have more. They have dyno, eprom emulators, and can finetune chip for your setup. Or you will kill your engine .

BTW - I have hole in the intercooler, and mixture is too rich (don't have wideband, but sluggish engine and black smoke tells the story). Do a pressure test first.

But guys, how do you explain that with adjustable FPR at the lowest level (should be 3 bar) mixture is still rich?

you ecu senses more air ( if you have air leak) and it will give it more fuel so it will run rich

I still haven’t found the problem. I tried RS2 injectors and fuel pressure regulator, but there was no difference. I don’t think its air leak, because boost is going to 1,9 bar max (yes, I haven’t tested it, because I don’t have the right time to fix my car).

Is there any difference where to is connected solenoid boost hose? Mine is connected after turbo about 15cm, but it should be connected to the turbo.

To be honest, I don’t know what to think..

                            Just tried again. Fault codes:

Buy the injectors which to the software is ment to. That's your only way to get it working without a remap.
