why is it made of cheap plastic? ... ive just put a ******* crack in it by tightening the breather plug!!!! **** .......... thats it .. ive had it!!!

going to fix car and get rid of it!!!! ....... just cant keep spending on it...

anyone interested to buy? im looking for £3000 - £4000 .. my cars stats are on the forum so you need to do a search

ps: it has had relatively new wheels and tyres (rs4 reps 18inch) and new front rear break pads ... new right hand rear caliper

(once fixed) ... anyone prices on radiator? or a better one ... perhaps totally metal?

      mate
I have found with my S2 that it has been well ££ in terms of new parts and labour (mine!!) but after a bit it should get to a state of being reliable
When I have replaced or refurbed the entire car

      jk//

ECP apparently sell a high quality metal radiator

Its a common enough fault. I did get a metal bodied rad from ECP last year for Minnsy's car - it was a brilliant bit of gear - made in Norway or Finland - the price was good too.
so this quote by S2central says ...

      see this thread

and the price is not too bad....

£130 including delivery for this one (though its not metal)

the main reason is i am a student... i struggle to afford it and plus having to work on it too ... its very time and money consuming

and yes I do love this car ... but its very depressing when not having the money to renew the parts there..

Otherway round Si, the OEM factory fitted radiator had black plastic end caps.
The cheaper and later pattern parts one, like Nissens have brass end caps painted black. I had a brass/steel (god knows what the hell it was) rad that I fitted new to my old cq20v almost 6 six years ago, I paid the thick end of £180 for it fitted, It lasted 14 months ! ! ! !

                    @ Chris
Just over £100 will get you a Behr replacement rad from GSF. Exactly the same as the factory rad, without the Audi stamps on it. You could attempt to fit it yourself, Jamo Fat Audi 80 and BrianSmith_S2 are ones who have recently done this themselves and have threads on here explaining how.

I guess there's a lesson to be learnt here. Don't over tighten bolts..

There is no other car in the world, giving you this kind of performance for that money. Give it a second chance!

Yes my radiator split too, night before I was going to races. You know what - it was good because I found a shop that will make me a full copper one for 120 euro

                      Have faith!

Sure they can. Just wait till I try mine and I let you know how good it is. It's gonna be a little heavier then stock (by 3-4 kg) but if you are not weight fanatic it will also cool better. I should have it by the end of the week.
