Buy a Behr rad from GSF, if your local GSF claim ignorance come back to me.

dunno about that rad looks like a Nissens

Word of advice tighten the bled screw with a 13mm spanner and go slowly until it give resistance at this point do not turn any more!

I think a few people use ratchets and thats a method thats going to end in it cracking.

Oh and Chris buy some JB Weld (plastic epoxy) and put it over the crack on the outside of the radiator.

This will hold for a month or 3 until you get a new rad.

I've posted it up before on the forum and another member used it until they got a new rad, got them out of the sh*t for a while.

No mate they are lying dont buy the Nissens, which GSF branch?

We had this before they can get the Behr rad from any GSF branch that has it in stock, they may only have the Nissen in stock at that Branch and so try the hard sell.

Only bad thing with GSF that.

I'll try and find out the stock later.

If it helps, I got a Behr one on order from the GSF Heathrow branch ( I know because I actually got a guy named Nigel, to unpack the radiator to be sure it was a Behr ), so I presume they have some more in stock.

my two pfennigs of experience and opinion, if anyone cares....
                        This is on a 1991 200q 20v (3b)..

I bought a Nissen's radiator because I bought into the "all metal radiator" hype.
Yes the radiator is all metal. But the quality is poor - the paint started peeling the first week, all the threads in the mounting points were also covered in paint and had to be cleaned with a thread tap, etc.

I would not buy one EVER again.

Yes, the stock radiators have plastic end tanks. So what?

Just consider the radiator a replaceable item after ten years of weather exposure and use....the stock radiator will fit without issues...

As i discovered last week you can also crack/break/shatter/ the flared radiator inlet (top) if you over tighten the jubilee clip.

What probably didn't help, was a) the plastic was old and a bit crumbly b) the top rad mount was loose which may have put an added strain on the outlet.

I just managed to attach the hose to the remaining bit of the outlet, but suppose I will have to join all you folk and get a replacement Behr radiator from GSF.
