    Sump Plugs

I know a few people have struggled to remove this item when changing your oil. I was faced with a nicely messed up one on my S6 which i knew was there from previous monkey lads/owners. I had before managed to knock on a 16mm socket which had decided to fall off somewhere damn and double damn i was thinking this isn't going to easy, anyway after trying to knock another socket on (and failed) i decided to use a cut down 17mm spanner that i had in the toolbox worked a treat with a pipe on it.

Now i usually change the oil with the engine hot, and yes the plug does seem to be glued in and previous changes had taken quite a bit of effort to get it undone, today though i hadn't started it at all and i was really surprised how easy it came undone compared to to undoing it hot.

So if you are struggling to get the plug undone try it cold.

I would suggest replacing OE plug with:

When worst comes to worst you can always try this method.

Most people got them from the states when there was a group buy a few years ago, might be worth asking them again if there are more people interested.

Just changed my oil this morning, forgot how easy it was with one of the valves fitted, well worth it.

Last week I undid my sump plug with the following injuries:
                    - 2 broken toe nails
                    - 1 totally missing toe nail
                    - bleeding nose
                    - cracked upper lip

Luckily noone saw me make a fool out of myself and the sump plug survived without a scratch.

I bought greg's fumoto valve but I couldn't screw it on to my urS4 as the anti roll bar was in the way! Your S6 will no doubt be the same! Obviously if you don't mind removing the ARB to fit it, then that's fine but I decided to replace the sump plug and washer with each oil change and only tighten it to the specified torque!

However if anyone would like my Fumoto valve, then a tenner plus postage should secure it!!

Merlin you need the Fumoto valve without the Nipple extension in that case i'd image.
