    Quick help neded

Just started to do my boost leak test, and some of the air is comming out of a loose 1/4" ID hose just flapping about.

It really doesnt look like its all plumbed in correctly! The WGVF (At least thats what I think it is - Gizmo with a couple of wires and a black 3 way piece on the top) has one arm of the side arms going to the air in hose for the turbo, and the other two arms are just shorted together with a small length of hose.

The pieice of tube just flapping out is on another T piece that goes to the wastegate.

I am guessing that the bit of hose flapping about should go to the WGFV?

    Any help?

    Oh dear.
What you have there is a bleed valve of some sort. Not good. I had that on my car when I first had it.
If you do a search for WGFV there are details of how it should be plumbed properly.

Ok. The longer tube on the WGFV goes straight into the MAF to turbo intake pipe, the tube opposite the longer one goes to the wastgate, and the tube pointing down goes to the turbo compressor.

Here's a diagram i found, you may find it useful.

Have you got a boost gauge in the car?

Thanks for the info. Plumbed the WGFV back in as you desvribed, and am now getting full boost according to my guage!

The boost also seems more controlled in relation to the throttle position, which is what I would expect. I just hope no one did all that bodging for a reason!

        Thanks again!

hmmmm back to this one I'm affraid. Although the boost is higher (14 psi), the car doesnt seem to feel as pokey as it did before I plumbed the WGFV back in.

Whilst I was poking around some previous threads I noticed that others have seen this type of bleed system used when the car has been chipped. Whats the quickest way to find out if this is the case for me. I have VAG-COM - Will this tell me, or is it a case of wresting with the ecu to get it out, and popping the cover?
