so what you're saying is to keep exhaust cam standard and reprofile the inlet so its less aggressive? -
yeah thats no problem, from what I heard recently though the rs2 intake cam is the same as the S2 cam except the cam pulley is different?Originally posted by Chris MCertainly is mate, i'm only going from what other people have tried.
Well you have a fair bit on lately mate by the sounds of it. Are you going to be at the R/R meet Greg? If so could you bring the RS2 inlet cam so i can do some measurements.
Cheers,

Actually I can't argue on this because I haven't driven 7Ax2 exuipped car. My friend just installed it on his S4 and the car idles horribly. I don't know whether it's cause of 7A cams, bad cam aligment (he has both of them made adjustable) or just a lack of untuned ECU (Megasquirt)Originally posted by volcano rsso what you're saying is to keep exhaust cam standard and reprofile the inlet so its less aggressive?
I think that You can put them on - drive the car - If You don't like it much - leave the 7A exhaust cam only + 3B/AAN/ABY inlet.
I had bad experience with advancing the NM cams with just pulling the cam pulley 1 tooth back. The car with rs2 setup had a terrible lag before 3500rpm, after that - fantastic journey through the rev range.
I placed them in original place and the lag in daily driving around the city with GT3071R can be comparable to K24 system.Comment

i am usin both,, and my car gor mor ageessive on high rpm. befor i used rs2 exhaust an s2 in and and i got boos with 7A ~100rpm erlier cant say 100% for shure bause i used a stand allone ecu with the 7a.ABT C5 Lord Of The Rings

I have both in mine as you know Volcano and since the exhaust has been done to 3" there is a noticable difference, pulls alot better lowerdown than before but still it is a high revving beastie and like to be above the 3500rpm mark (and I like to keep it there

i ask all this because when i have mine mapped i want to be sure i have the right cams to get the full potential from my set up.
i have 3 inch exhaust all the way and no idling or running problems at all .because i'm using this set up for the first time i want to get maximum power / torque out of it . i red lined it the other day and i had no rev limiter cut in at all .for standard ecu it seems to pull well .
and jamo that would be nice if i could just see how it behaves thanks

Ive got the 7a Exhaust cam and the ABY Inlet cam, power and boost shifts about 500 rpm higher with the 7a Exhaust on vs the stock ABY.
car pulls very good all the way to redline.
Jamo did you try the 7a exhaust on yours ?

i am curently thinking if i shuld look fot other cams on not for my new engine, but i dont know what to chose there is cat cams, shrick and some more brands. i thought about ~266 deg with ~10-11mm lift. but i dont know how much they will improve.ABT C5 Lord Of The Rings

according to kruemmer files the inlet on 7a is different adu is different 3b and aan are the same .
exhaust on adu is different to 7a 3b aan which are the same .so its the inlet that should be changed not the exhaust which most people on here change .Comment

The ADU and 3B inlet is a different part number because the 3B has the dizzy gear at the end. The timing is suppose to be the same.
7A exhaust is not the same as the 3B, AAN and ABY! Its got higher lift for a start
All the specs for the cams are on this forum from Pisobiker who measured them.Comment

The 7A cams debate will probably never die
My guess is as good as any, but i plan to use them both for a big turbo setup which will be somewhat laggy anyway. The more aggressive inlet cam should help in the upper end of the rev range. Smaller setups like K26/27 are probably better off with just the exhaust.
Custom cams would be even better of course.Last edited by Urquattro20V; 17 October 2006, 09:21.Comment

The cam usage is dependant on your turbo characteristics as well.
Some will suit the 7A inlet some won't it's a dark art of trial and error for your own motor.
I personally wouldn't have at considered using the 7A inlet after reading on here and seeing Doug_RS2 dyno's plot but it works a treat in my car.Comment
