fuel pumps ... more HP but what will pump the fuel ? new GT35/40 turbo problem
fuel pumps ... more HP but what will pump the fuel ? new GT35/40 turbo problem
We have just got new big turbo form Garrett and we are pretty sure that RS2 fuel pump wont provide the proper amount of fuel. For the power that we are going to we need about 170l/min
What is the RS2 fuel pump efficiency ? and at what kPa ?
I'm having some ideas about how my fuel system will look like. A system with one in-tank pump, a catch tank and an external pump. Want it to be enough for 600hp + safety margins. Not saying that I'm going to get my engine cranked up to 600hp, but IF i reach that sometime in the future, I don't want to rebuild the fuelsystem again.
My idea now is that perhaps i can use one 044 in-tank to feed the catch, and one 044 external from the catch to feed the engine?
Yep, that sounds like a good idea this uses two 044 bosch pumps.
The nice thing about these pumps is that they can be mounted in the tank or externally.
You also want to be careful that you are not pumping too much fuel. If you do that all that will happen is it will keep getting returned to the tank all the while so you are better not going way OTT on it.

You don't need an 044 to feed the catch tank, you should have a lowpressure pump before it, and then the 044 after it.
Do you need the instructionin english or can we take in swedish?
Make a forum on irry an I'll tell you more about how your fuelsystem should be built :nana:
Just one thing to notice, doing 600 reliable HP on a 2.2 liter engine is simply not possible. anything above 500 will require extensive and regular maintenance and rebuilds, no matter how over-engineered your engine and its internals are.
The problem with that isn't fuel or ignition, engine management or air supply but rather the heat such amounts of HP produce. The Audi 90 IMSA was using special head castings in order to produce 700 HP between 6500 and 8500 RPM with a peak at 730 somewhere around 7500 RPM, but yet it required so frequent rebuilds that it can be in no way considered as a reliable engine.
I know of some guys running 530+ HP in Germany and who rebuild their engines every 2 months or so... this is in no way meant to discourage any of you, but quite frankly, for my own car, I won't ever go past 450-470 HP simply because I'm sure I won't have the time, money, nor the will to rebuild my engine even every year or so....
The day I want 600+ BHP, I'll get myself an RS4 and start poking around it, stuff some nice goodies and make it produce 650-700 HP, which is still somehow more reliable than an IMSA engine...
Just a thought,
Mihnea

Yeah, I had a discussion with Zap on this, and came to the conclusion that the stock fuel pump would probably be enough to fill up the catch, if your'e not running the 044 at 100% for more than a minute or so...
