  • Need New Cams - What are my Options?

I cleaned my cams last night and found that they have some signs of wear.

I will be replacing them and I only know of Shrick and stock. Are there any other recommended cams? Sources would also be helpful.

I favor driveability over performance and will be running around 280 hp so nothing radical is needed.

    All comments are appreciated.

I would go with RS2 spec. cams.
They will give a little more breathing in the mid to high rpm without appreciable reduction in low rpm tractability. But most important thing they will be fine for any eventual further upgrade if needed in the future.
I wouldn't spend money on cams two times.

    Just my opinion.

There's an auction on Ebay right now for a pair of RS2 cams, it's nearly finished

No they won't!!!!! The RS2 intake cam has no gear for the distributor guys, can you see it in the pic? I can't....

hmmm, AFAIK the 3B camgear bolts straight on to that one.

                    Dave,

Why don't you take the exhaust cam from your 7A?

The RS2 cam differs only on the exhaust side. If installing an inlet one as well for whatever reason, the distributor drive gear is an interferance fit on the 3B and can be removed and transfered to the RS2 item.

Siena, AFAIK the intake RS2 cam has the same specs as the 3B/ABY/AAN ones except that it is 10 degree off (retarded or advanced, can't remember off the top of my head)....

                        Or am I wrong???

Are you saying it could be pressed one my cam and pressed on the RS2 cam?

Sorry was switching things (distrubution and camgear), with camgear is for 3b applications, unless you got aby/adu ignition system. Without camgear is for aby/adu, and NOT 3b.
