    ABY emissions problem

Well my avant almost passed MOT except emissions are sky high.

Ive got the following fault code

    00516 Mixture adaptation
13-00 Adaptation limit (Mul) Not reached

Is this likely to be the lambda sensor ?

Have you got poor fuel consumption too?
I had identical problem = Lambda sensor.
IIRC its the 4 wire sensor you need for an ABY lambda and its defo a 3 wire for a 3b (as Ive got one of them spare!)

I bought mine from here and they were spot on.

The universals work fine but mean you just have to join the wiring yourself

the other problem ive had in the past is getting the cats warmed up for emissions. Had to go for bit of a blast to get them warmed up for it to pass emissions

00516 is what you posted in your other thread.
Don't you mean 00561 for this one?
          The "MUL" stands for multiplicative.

In my experience, this is MAF related.
Again my bro's car pulled this code a few times, a clean of the MAF with an IPA bath sorted it.
Could also be a leak in the exhaust system upto the cat,
Fuel system pressure too low or too high,
Failure of spark plugs, iginiton coils or power output stages,
Ingress of air to G70 (Maf)
          2001 Avus Silver B5 RS4.
          2004 A4 Avant 1.8T quattro Sport-LE.

            already cleaned the MAF,

your right about the fault code its 00561

Is this still likly to be lambda related ?

Greg, point taken mate I did give it blast on the way there and left it idling whilst I was outside.
Im gona get it cooking next time.

I got the MOT anyway as im in with the tester but its on the understanding I get this sorted by next week.
