    OIL... for break in

What oil should I use for break in a rebuilt motor. I was told by my local parts place to use 30w but my oil light comes on and off all the time so I'm guessing that there isn't enough oil pressure.

Or you have wired the sensors wrong?
There is a switch point at 3krpm that changes which sensor is read.

I probably use a mineral 10W-40 or one of the special 'running-in' oils for the first 500 miles.

I used a morrisons 10W-40 mineral oil when my motor was broken in.

I switched the wires at the block and now there is no dummy light... Does this mean I should be ok. I'm sourcing a oil pressure gauge now so I guess that is the only way to really tell.

If this ends up being good I will switch them proper

Get the gauge. I actually thought you have one and the gauge sensor wires are wrong. It would have been pretty typical error as the pins are not marked on it.
Can't say for certain that your wires are now ok.. Better to check with the gauge.
