Exhaust manifold gasket? Flange pattern needed please?

    Hey guys

So ive started collecting some parts for a few "upgrades" I have planned for the car in the future

I bought this manifold and it was delivered the other day.

While Im very pleased with it for the very reasonable price I paid for it (very nice Tig welds, 2.5mm 321 SS,)..... Im not sure the gasket that came with it has had the holes drilled correctly. Or worse still (but still sortable...the flange holes are not drilled correctly.)....I did expect there might be an issue or two with a cheaper mani but this was not it!!

I dont have a head to test fit this manifold too at this minute so I was wondering if anyone could lend me a stock exhaust manifold gasket for a couple of days please?? Used or new would be fine!

I would pay postage both ways (paypal?) if any kind S2er could do this or even better still anyone relatively local with an S2 head I could test the manifold on possibly? (Can drive to you)

I would be very grateful for any help here as I only have limited time to get it swapped before the issue goes "stale" so to speak! The shop I bought it from is puzzled by it as they say both items are machine drilled (programmed) but have said they will replace or repair if there is a fitment issue and want me to test it with stock gasket or better still on an engine/head

It looks identical to the Audspeed manifolds Ive seen except the collector is a fair bit better and its not from them!(still needs a dremel and polish though as its not art ATM! but will be fine for my application)

heres a couple of pics anyway.

Have you felt the inside of the runners where they have been welded I took the time to grind all the inside of the runners nice and smooth and then had a mate re-weld some of the joints where the wastgate runner attaches to the collector as i wasn't happy with it, plus i ran a brace from the motor mount to the bottom of the turbo for some extra support, I ran it for 9 months without any problems

I used an OE exhaust manifold gasket by the way

Eh??Only to check hole alignment....not to use for actual fitment or usage
Have you finished that engine fitting yet anyway??

          Ahh...Interesting.
          Thanks Jon.
Yes. The inside of the runners is really smooth
Not sure if they've upped their quality control or I was "lucky".
All joints have been inspected are good welds fortunately. The collector will get some polishing attention though
Either way. I knew it wouldnt be perfect and would possibly need some adjustments for under £250 all in!

              Haha....

              Change of current plans Bry.
I've sold the M3....bought an E46 325i recently and selling on Thursday to my cousin from York (for a mild profit :mischeif: )...reason being I need the £££ for house and other stuff at the minute.

The S2s now my daily driver.....and I want it to be faaaster
Only thing bimmer I have currently is an S38 engine gathering dust for the time being....

you will need to mod your downpipe with this manifold

under turbo support is a good idea, have seen this done on pembo's rally car with the same manifold

                            Cheers Wab

Was thinking of fabbing a bracket up and bolting it to the head like I think MarkH has done...

Will be a custom downpipe and straight through exhaust so no modding required of the stock one

i laser cut a bracket to pic up on two of the bolts on the turbo for pembo's

probably still got the file somewhere, will have a look if you want, was only mild steel mind you, my machine wont cut stainless that thick so i have to get most stainless stuff done out
