My mate was doing his cambelt and changing his exhaust cam for a 7A on the weekend, and found his cam wheel key was snapped, probably for a long time, he was very lucky basically driving a blown engine. I am beginning to think that cam pulleys are going to become cambelt service items like the crank one, from now on

The cambelt crank pulley is weak. It's rather strange it hasn't been discussed here more. I recommend you to always replace it when doing a cambelt job.
It's also essential to use proper damper locking tools to avoid the pulley getting damaged when tightening the big crank bolt.

It isn't expensive but may cause very expensive repair.
