Could be the fan switch, cars at work do the same once they get moisture in the switches.
    Cheers,

If you have the Aircon-Automatic switched on then the Fan runs with it all th etime.

On my lhd rs2 it does the same if the climate control is on, even if I've set the temp to max heat.

AAHHAAA !!!! I'd always wondered why the rad fan would slowly spool if I turned on the auto heater/AC unit even when it was -10 degrees outside...

Yes i know it runs when the aircon pump is on ie auto pressed with snow flake on,
should the fan not stop when you turn the air con pump off,= auto on, flake off.

            whats yours do?

            Cheers,

That's what I thought too but mine spools regardless if the A/C is turned on or off. I can't say for sure if it's normal or not but previous posts seem to indicate that it's normal...

Solution is quite simple - just disconnect the wire from pin 87b on afterrun control relay (447 965 571A under the dashboard) .

All other functionality will not be affected (fan afterrun, fan startup with A/C compressor etc.), only this annoying continuous running will be stopped.

Had done this myself on two ABY-engined cars.

P.S. This circuit is same in the RS2.

wow Tim, first post and you seem to know the beasts!
Welcome and thanks for the solution,

FAn runs no matter the setting to the climate control...
I will be trying the above.

                  Cheers,

The question now is why does Audi installed this feature?
