  • Autronic SM4 Anti-Lag

Has anyone any experience with running an Autronic SM4 ECU and configuring open throttle Anti-Lag?

It's currently configured as per all the Autronic guidelines I can find, including the application of rotational idle. It sure pops, farts and bangs, but it doesn't seem to be producing any boost... so effectively it's pointless in its current form. Any help is appreciated.

    Cheers

As in the attached screenshots, anti-lag option enabled and configured by:
        1) Menu M1 - O/P Setup... Set 'O/P Anti-lag' to 'ON-No O/P
        2) Menu M1 - Input Switches... Set 'I/P Anti lag 1 to Continuous
        3) Menu M5 - 'Anti-lag rpm trig' set to 3000 - all other settings unmodified
        4) Menu M5 - 'Cool Dn rpm Max' set to 1800 - all other settings unmodified
        5) M5 Menus 'Anti-lag Ingnition' and 'Anti-lag Cut Off' remain unmodified.

Does the launch control build boost? Are you able to share your setting for this?... maybe I could try this as a test to see if I can indeed build boost at standstill??? I'm wondering of the aftermarket boost controller is preventing the standard Autronic config from applying the boost as expected.

If your boost controller has a TPS overlay then it might not be playing ball. Why arent you using the ECU for boost control? I'd try a longer AL timeout too, maybe 5 seconds.

Yes my logs show me making over 200 kPa at launch.

Definitely use the internal boost control I bet that's your issue. You can even go boost by gear which is how we do it.

It's not been installed long, and there wasn't enough time to reconfigure it before my next event... but yes, the next step is to let the ECU control the boost and drive the fans directly. My final event of the year is on the 11th Nov, so after this I'll be removing the aftermarket boost controller.

                Cheers

Yes I've been advised about the boost by gear option... I've just gone through the process of setting the gear ratios in preparation

                      Good stuff
                      Was it the boost controller?

No... as I'm implementing open throttle anti-lag (idle set to around 3000rpm), you have to alter the 0% voltage limit for the analogue throttle input once the fast idle is set. I think the logic is, you are telling the ECU that this new fast idle is actually now the normal idle - i.e. effectively the throttle off position/voltage. Standard idle voltage was around 0.38volts - I've now set it to the 0.85 - this is the voltage output the TPS reports at 3000rpm.

I've also now rewired the boost control solenoid into the ECU and connected switches to control the 3 boost setpoints and a manual anti-lag switch. A pic of the switches below ...

Haha nice. So effectively you need to recalibrate the TPS range? Glad you got it sorted.
Have you considered running an e-throttle controller like the TF Electronics unit?

I've looked at a few options... but went with the free option for now
I'll see how it goes, and maybe look at alternatives if required.

I have a rally test day on the 21st so I can test it out before my next rallycorss event in Nov.

Sorry, yes... recalibrated the off position/voltage of the TPS - set under Menu1 > I/P Analogues > I/P Throttle. See pic...the '0% limit' was 0.386 volts with the throttle closed - 0.850 volts is the TPS output now the throttle is permanently held open - this gives me around 3000rpm. The '100% limit' remains unchanged.
