But yeah. Not a wise idea to drive the car with it. By limited amounts i meant to the repair shop. not commuting...
I still have an old escort - it's not an S2 is it?
Johnny stopped his car, waited for a tow truck, tried to start it to put it on the truck and then had a bill for a new engine.
If Lou tries to start his engine tomorrow to drive it to the garage (repair shop?) and the piston comes through the side of the block, are you going to pay for the damage?
If you don't have the knowledge or experience about something, why post on the subject? It's not a posting competiton, is it?

PS You want a Victor Reinz metal head gasket set LOU. I think GSF /ECP do them. Victor Reinz supply Audi.

      @ Bry.
Im not sure where your post is coming from TBH.
What happened to Johnny, is not guaranteed to happen to Lou
A headgasket is a headgasket. No leak will be identical.
And most importantly.... I dont recall saying the car was safe to drive.
      In fact I said:

Provided water isnt mixing with your oil as long as you keep coolant level topped up it should be ok to drive in limited amounts.
Meaning 99% the car will drive ok to a repair shop.

Granted. I have no experience of S2 head gasket failure first hand (luckily). But it is still an internal combustion engine after all.

When I think you have any useful knowledge to me about the S2.....I will ask you for it

Dont try and wreck a perfectly good thread and go and write story books or do charity works or something useful.

        Why change it?

            So why change it then?
In fact, why post it in the first place?

I just like the Facts. I don't need to see your face to prove a point, do I? I don't need to threaten anybody to win an arguement.
You're the only internet warrior I can see.

You are the one who always brings it down to this level, usualy in a pm I might add. Nice to see your true colours out in the open.
I'd recommend some anger management courses for 2007.
            Happy New Year

An rs2 top end gasket kit can be purchased from GSF and as Bry said, they are Made by Victor Reinz and are top quality, i cant remember an exact figure off the top of my head but i believe they are around £65 + vat.
Who did the Rebuild 3000 miles ago ?

No one nead worry about me driving the car, because I am fixing it its not going to a garage, its being done at home by me, and hopefully the mecanic who helped me rebuild the engine, that was quite a learning cerve for me,so I feal that I should be able to do it .However any help or advice anyone has would be much appreciated, such as how long it should take, and what else should I do at the same time, turbo on or of manifolds on or of, and as was mentioned pressure testing or not.
                  many thanks Lou.

I find it easier to leave the manifolds and turbo on, and lift it all off as one unit. You'll need a mate or two to help with the lifting mind, coz it weighs a ton.
