Audi A6 C4 2.8 30v thermostat

Hi all,
Not sure if anyone knows, but where would the location of the thermostat be? I assume it's in the Vee, just behind the timing belt? I spoke to a chap who thought it was at the back of the engine, which seems strange as the 12v version is at the front. The engine code is ACK.
