    Billet K7000 v Billet 7200 ? What do you think ?

Just wondering if anyone has driven both turbos back to back and what they thought.

Had a go in a billet 7200 and there is more lag and while there is more boost it is higher up the rev range before it boosts. 7000 is gives something before it boosts fully at 3k which is nicer for traffic driven car. This billet 7200 car may need a new bypass valve as the current one it old - so when a new one is swopped in things may improve and so this could improve the car's abilities ?

For a real everyday driver short runs - I'm thinking a billet 7000 on an Iroz Motorsport SS exhaust manifold with a matching 3" downpipe, cat bypass pipes into the rest of the oem exhaust system.

Standard dual mass flywheel - drives nicer in stop-start city traffic - ditto for a Sachs oem clutch, maybe an RS2 FMIC, but probably not a reverse intake manifold as it may not be worth the grief getting it to fit.

If the engine came apart maybe rods, a balance, and a mild porting of the head to clean the castings up. RS2 airbox.

Anyone any experience of this spec ?

It wouldn't need any more than 330hp tbh.

    Thanks for any comments.

Why not K7400 as a middle option between them?

      Too much grief to fit.

Looking for a plug 'n play solution as they'll be doing the labour themselves apart from the fact mapping the result would be a big issue.

I agree, these old KKKs are 30 year old tech, billet wheels are not magic. Get a modern turbo and have more of everything, everywhere

Go with the Volvo turbo it provides everything you want and will easily give you 350bhp or if you want dial it back a bit. I've heard Borg warner new turbos are good. To get what your after you'll have to do a bit of custom but it's worth it.

I think John b had billet K24? As his was about 300+ bhp I think he bought from aet turbos or grant Parker and had a map from automark

Hi guys, thanks very much for all your replies so far. TBH, need to get that point front and centre before you read any further.

Error, understood re going for a newer style turbo, the 'difficulty' is that he has just fitted a new RS2 billet turbo and so hopefully a new bypass valve will improve matters to a more 'acceptable' level of performance for an old style turbo for him.

VdT, the Volvo turbo would be too far away from plug 'n play for him - me also. And if was doing it again, he'd probably go for a new style turbo as the extra expense of a new turbo would be worth it over sourcing a reconditioning a used K7400. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Hopefully this thread saves somebody from going down the 'wrong' route.

Hopefully John B sees this thread and makes a post advising how he got on. Familiar with Automark's good work so this would make John B's response all the more interesting.

Separately, on my own UrS6, I'm happy with the way it goes, but if I was to become dissatisfied in the future what's the now new equivalent of the 'older' style Garrett GT2871R Hybrid Turbo .63AR ? Would the new turbo be better with a RS2 Wagner T3 outlet or a KKK outlet, if one had the choice?

While not looking to waste money. I know, what am I doing on here I hear you ask and why do you own those S cars? - so leaving that comment aside for the following reasons one wanted to retain early boost but have more poke than a fry could provide and therefore decided on a small'ish modern turbo which would limit the power curve, and to counteract this lower power curve and also setting aside the additional money required and the last reason of as one liked the idea of a IROZ SS exhaust manifold and matching 3" inch downpipe, would they be 'worth it' from a power / torque / driveability point of view, or would it be better to just leave the existing oem manifold or maybe a Wagner cast manifold and an oem downpipe and run a little bit more boost ?

I appreciate my own query is somewhat complicated but hopefully people have the patience to make sense of it and ideally are in a position to reply with their thoughts on what would be a good idea.

I know I need help / to cop on, but that's a whole other thread.

                Over to you guys.

                Thanks.
