    Going for the dyno...

    Hello all,

i have finally decided to take my car to be dynoed. As you know the mtm chip that it carries has the rev limiter removed. As this has occured i have to indicate to the person that is going to dyno the car when to stop accelerating....
Ok...so where is it safe to stop accelerating with stock equipment?I mean should i go over 7000rpm or should i stop there since there is no use trying harder as the engine is not going to give anything more after that even with the chip?

    please enlighten me!!!

    cheers
    Vasilis

AFAIK, 7200rpm is a safe limit.

I'd find a better rolling road if you have to tell them that!

well its not that,i havent talked to them yet,it is going to be as a club dyno ,the problem is that not many people here know this car,and ...i guess im one of them!
So if i dont say anything normally they push the car to the limiter.since mine doesnt have one,i guess they will have a suggestion, but i wanted to know myself as well beforehand

It's the stock turbo right? I'd take it to 7200, that's where the limiter is usually, and as you said the stock turbo runs outta puff after 6500...

You wont need to take it that high peak torque and BHP will be below that. they'll back it of between 6500-7000

The main problem on the dyno will be ggetting enough air through the intercooler and heat soak. Ideally you want a very big fan forcing air through your intercooler that is linked to the dyno roller speed, so at 100 kph you are getting 100 kph of cool air throught the intercooler. Otherwise you will find your power is dropping before 6500 rpm anyway

the car should produce above 300hp.mtm says 330 and 475Nm of torgue. My gauge shows the figures that the chip should give so im betting everything is running OK.And also that the dyno people there know their job right. As for wheel power im guessing around 25% less.
