Anyway of testing these??? has anyone had a failure that didn't show up on vag com, i have a feeling that mine aren't working. Any ideas on other noises similar to pinking???
I've had experience with faulty knock sensors. Both times it has shown up by the boost sticking at about 0.5 bar. It normally starts very intermittantly and gradually gets worse. If the boost sticks, switching the ignition off and back on again will normally clear the problem, temporarily.
Well it boosts fine just been outside and undone them both and retorqued, what i am hearing sounds like detonation if it is then the sensors aren't doing their job
How loud are these sounds. I suspect I may have a similar problem. The noises I hear are not that loud at speed, but when I put the foot down say in 3rd at 1500rpm you get a sort of pinking noise....

Is it tuned ? What petrol are you using (grade make) I had similar one summer with a batch of optimax
IIRC knock sensors are not a complete protection
What is right with them?
Last time I checked they used Digitec chips, which means the knock sensors are disabled. AFAIK they have to do that because the maps are totally wrong for a stock S2.
