RS2 injectors vs 034 replicas and boost

    Alright troops

Shortly after completing my Volvo 7400 installation on my S2 and before i had really got a feel for the turbo, i changed the RS2 injectors that were in the car for brand new 034 replicas.

The reason for this at the time was to elimate injectors from a smoking issues i had. Turns out it was valve stem oil seals and not injectors.

However, i left the 034 replicas in the car and it seems to go good, but i've since been reading that they can under fuel or over fuel. I'm still not making the 1.6 bar the chips are rated for, 1.5 bar is the most i've seen and wondering could these injectors cause such an issue.

Can anyone confirm if they experienced any issues with these injectors compared to the OEM RS2 ones.

Since my map is specifically for the OEM injectors, would i really notice any difference swapping them back in.

I will of course be trying this soon, just throwing it out there for some advice.

    Cheers guys

I haven't seen one single product from 034 that is worth a bean. Either never fit correctly, or don't perform well, or do not last... or all of the above...

If it says its 034... don't fit it...
Honda CBR 1100XX Blackbird Turbo....undergoing major changes.....
S2 Coupe... bit easier off the line...
'03 ZX12-R daily hack.... lots of nice bolt ons...

The only other 034 products that i have personally laid hands on are boost hoses for wagner intercoolers on my b5 s4. Had fitment issues with these and went back to stock.

What about the injectors, have you used these in the past?

The only thing on those injectors that is somewhat similar to RS2 is the static flow.
Dynamic flow is totally different, injector offset is totally different, linearity is totally different, so it will never fuel right, especially on transients.

Stock is an EV1 injector, these are EV6.

Cheers PRJ. Could running these injectors on a tune mapped for the OEM RS2 ones, potentially cause issues with achieving max boost on WOT, or indeed anywhere during the rev range. Can i expect a crisper running engine?

Wouldn’t a custom tune be better option to get the most from your setup rather then swapping injectors around. afr gauge would help if your doing that just to keep eye on it unless you already have one installed all best Michael

Yes indeed a custom tune would be preferable, however there is nowhere near me that could provide such a service, well that i could trust anyway.

I guess i'm just trying to ascertain what the real world differences are between the two sets of injectors i've got. Is it just minimal differences or can they actually be felt when driving.

I'll do the swap over the weekend probably, just wondering if someone has already done it and can share their experiences. When i had the rs2 injectors in my car previously it wasn't running the best due to the maf pins.

Sounds like sourcing a set of OEM RS2 injectors is best way forward

Cheers for that, may as well get them cleaned. Think there was meant to be around 80k on the injectors so interested to see what condition they will be in.

I had a set cleaned with a little bit less mileage and 8 ish years service on and there was an improvement. Worth doing if they are mechanically in good order and aren't leaking badly on shut off.

Swapped the OEM RS2 injectors in today and to be honest I'm not really noticing much difference, if anything the replicas idled a bit smoother since they were brand new. WOT in third I'm showing around 11.8-12 AFR which was about the same as the replicas. I'll get a few more miles with them to see if I notice anything but so far not really. Still boosting to around 1.45-1.5 bar.

Disconnected the N75 to waste gate hose to see if I can indeed get more boost out of this turbo, ( I was always worried that the 2.5" cobra hose would be restrictive) sure enough it would boost past 1.5 bar no probs. Seen around 1.8 bar on the gauge in the short burst I tried so no issues there. Either the chipset is fairly conservative or I've got an issue elsewhere that I've not tracked down as yet. Feels pretty nippy when boosting to 1.8 bar though!!
