Hi Guys can anyone help my confirm or identify which block I have?
its stamped “054103021”. I believe it to be a 3B but there is another stamp underneath with 25L. Does this denote displacement? Or is it just a random stamp.
As I said before, it is not a part number. It is a casting number.
It can be 3B, and it can also be NG or NF or PS.
Don't bother measurign the deck height. Measure the bore.
If 81, then PS, if 81.5 then 3B, if 82.5 then NG, NF or 7A
It is the part number.
Audi didn't sell the blocks by themselves, only with the pistons together. It is the individual part number of a sub assembly. Only the "full" part number is listed by audi.
This is the same as ABY/AAN/ADU which again has a part number(it starts 034) but only the sub assembly is listed by audi.

This "part number" says only it is old style 220mm 5 cylinder unmilled piece of metal and nothing more.
1989 Audi 80 Quattro
1994 Audi 80 Quattro Competition

It is audi's own number, not the forge's cast number.
I'm fairly sure audi put NG on the NG engines. I think there is an extra hole for the tensioner too.
The OP hasn't got NG on his and i don't think it has the extra hole either. Therefore it is a 3B.
