    Turbo - Compressor side nipple/valve

    Hi,

I am new here (as you have probably guessed!)

    Just had a dumb Qs:

    1. I have just bought a K24 turbo (2nd hand), I have noticed it does not have a brass nipple/valve on the compressor side, (is this the bit that connects to the wastegate via rubber hose?). I was told the turbo was off an audi, rest of the dimensions are correct. If it was off an audi how was the boost pressure relayed to the wastegate? Also is it poss to drill and tap the compressor housing and the nipple?

    Thanks

Excellent forum, learned so much allready just browsing and searching the forums - very imtresting / technical.

Yes it's possible to drill and tap, there should be a blanking point on the compressor for this. If you search for "Project 400" by Ross it shows him doing it on a 3071R turbo.

Some cars take pressure from the manifold and not the turbo directly and dont have a WGFV.

What car was the turbo taken from?

Yes, I can confirm, that k24 turbo from audi100 has no nipple on the compressor housing. Otherwise turbo looks to be the same (at least I haven't managed to find any differences) like S2/S4 turbo. Also it has place to drill, thread and to wind nipple into.
