ive got a oil leak from pump housing so stripped down front end rand removed lower pulley and belt, can i remove the oil pump without removing sump pan i have tried but it only comes away partly seems to be catching at the bottom so wont come off?

You can't do it without taking the sump off. The oil pick up pipe is bolted to the pump and the other end of the pipe is bolted to the block. Good luck trying to get the sump clear with the subframe in place! -
If the leak is coming from the front crank seal then you don't need to take the pump off, it is possible to get the seal out with a tool. New seal can be pressed in with suitable socket/pipe to push on the outer steel structure of the seal. If the leak is coming from the gasket then you may well be looking to remove the sump
