    stuttering when warming up

    Hi there,

Wondered if someone might be able to help me with an annoying problem with my Coupe. Its not an S2 (still saving ) but a 1995 2 litre.

When the car is cold it is fine for a short time then it starts to splutter when driving and the idle is a little erratic. It hasnt actually stalled, but does kangaroo along when in slow moving traffic which is a wind up - people must think i'm a learner! When the car is up to 90 degrees it behaves as it should.

I hoped somebody could point me in the right direction to sort it out.

        Thanks for the replys guys

Sorry, but im not overly up on how engines work (trying to learn though)

Could anyone give me an idea of where the MAF is, what it is, and how to clean it ??? This sounds like something I might be able to tackle.

If this doesnt help, is looking at the choke a big / difficult job ?

the maf is on the air filter box you will need to remove it from there
and gently place it in some i.p.a
use the search button for maf,ipa etc

2.0L what? 16v, 8v? If 8v, single point fuel injection? or multi point?
First port of call would be a vacuum leak, check all the small vac hoses. And IIRC the MAF can't be removed to clean.

Thanks again for all the help.

The car concerned is an 8v im not sure if its single point or multipoint injection - is there anything I can for that will tell me ?

Going to try and clean the MAF Sensor as this sounds like something I can do.
