Hi, I've been with 3 different blocks and different mileage. In all of them were the marks of the photos, is it normal? in the photos I upload there is charcoal, dirty, but the step is clenchable with your finger.
The brands for the oil are visible.

The wear line is the caused by the rings at TDC. The compression stroke is complete at this point, so it's not going to affect overall performance. It's normal wear and a hone or rebore should remove it.

HelloHello Steve, the brand is different in each cylinder, in some deeper than in others, what seems odd to me is that they see the factory striated for the oil. I don't know if it's normal in these blocks
We call that ring ridge here in the states. It is a normal wear line at the top of the stroke. If you clean all the carbon off of it, it won't seem quite as drastic as it does now.
After a bit of re-honing it may look like this: nUUNqB_X4-Y.jpg
Looks like you have NM block. If you are going to use it with 3B/AAN pistons you should compare the height of the ring ridge for NM and AAN pistons. AAN piston ring should not get higher than the ridge.
The criss cross markings on the cylinder wall is normal and a good sign! If they weren't there, the bores would be polished smooth and there would be nothing to hold the film of oil which lubricates.

Is a rehone like that acceptable? The top ring will be on the glazed part of the bore on TDC. I ask cos mine is similar and I don't know if I can get away with it for a stock engine or if it needs a rebore.

Ok, thanks. I am going to put my block away for a rebore, hone and skim to be be safe. It's in bits now so no point trying to cut corners at this point

Acceptable for exactly the same pistons (with the same ring height) but still the build would be some sort of ghetto way.
In case of some other pistons using, when ring would reach zone higher than wear, it is not acceptable at all.

That was more or less my thinking too and my bores are slightly worse than these. Thanks for the reply guys, I will see what the machine shop has to say in regards to oversizing the bores
