    New to owning s2......

Hello all, I have just took the plunge and bought an s2( a friend appeared with the car and told me to buy it).
I have been told that it has been done by MTM, and I would say that it is certainly capable, however I wonder if someone could give me a pointer as to how early in the rev range these engines show strength. At the moment this car starts to perform well after 3000 rpm.
I have yet to fit gismos, but will put on data loggers, boost gauge, and keep you posted.

As I learn more about the vehicle I will post, but would appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction.
    All the best,
    Bernie

Sounds ok to me, my car has an MRC remapp and that picks up well from 3000rpm

Thanks for that, would anyone have a graphic power curve of a standard and chipped version?

It seems there are many ways of modding these cars, but how much can be done and what do you recommend for an upgrade path to increase power without swapping the turbo or manifolds, in other words, what can be squeezed safely out of the (standard?) engine setup I currently believe is in this car.
      Thanks,
      Bernie

I believe your looking at 280hp off standard turbo safely. I did post my graph up on here a long while back, ill see if i can find it. Have a think about the brakes, if u already have a chip, Porsche 993 route has proven to be very successful, do a search there is loads of info on that.

It has what look like standard calipers on the back, but two fat porsche red calipers on the front, although I have to add I have not really tried them out yet. I was told that was a good grands worth of front brakes, if so thats nice(saves me buying them )
So if it is at about 280hp at the moment, what is the next step for upgrading the power? I am looking for a set of door mouldings
          cheers,
          Bernie

            Hi Bernie.

If you are looking for door moulding, (I am assuming the lower rubber ones as these always curl up!) then you need to talk to www.vagparts.com the best source of OEM parts...

IIRC they are about £60 a set, so not too bad.

            Cheers,

            Steve.

              Hello Again, back from work......
Thanks for the door mouldings price, very reasonable. I am getting the arches rolled out a little to cope with the rs4(lookalike) wheels and tyres because whoever had it before decided lowering it was a good idea, and north wales roads do not tend to forgive lowering. If I win the lottery this week I might just get some springys the proper height.
Is there a conversion for the rear calipers ( what is the ball park figure if there is )
, not that I am buying for a few months but I am starting to see now that there are quite a few bits around for these.
Has anyone gassed them (put lpg or cng on them)?

I'm picking it up in a couple of days, and I am looking forward to it so I can ask lots more questions.

I have had fitting experience with piggy back chips for extra injectors, timing advance and so on, and being as I (hopefully) intend to convert it to lpg, I will fit a kit that will provide enough gas to satisfy up to about 500hp, it it were tuned to use the total.

The ecu sorts out the timing on these, how many timing sensors are there on the engine?
              All the best,
              Bernie

You lucky lucky man, some fantastic roads. I think my favourite past time is getting up at 6am on a Sunday morning and going for a blast down to Harlech or Barmouth, no police, not many bikers, and best of all NO BLOODY CARAVANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spend my working days in an old overfinch range rover, scooting up mountains to fix off grid lpg power systems, and I have to say that handles very well. I cover wales and west and have done 50000 miles since march. I cannot think of a vehicle I would rather use for my job, however my wife has (had, sold to pay for frivolous audi buying!)an alfa 33 permanent 4, and that was great. The audi turned up with my mate attached to it, smiling and waving his arms around. This was because of 2 things, he had a chance to drive it from brum so I could look at it and also I paid the petrol(fool).

I wont go into the details of his journey, but he used 30 quids worth of fuel in 110 miles and I had to put 25 quid into it again so he could go home!!! If anyone sees a dark blue s2 with rs4 alloys in birmingham, attracting attention, please grass him up to me!

Either way, I am now in debt but i own a 1994/5 ish s2 avant (private plate, havent seen the logbook yet), and my better half will take daytime custody of the audi to convey my urchins and newfoundland around to points of (retail) interest.
Anyone got a dog guard please ?
                          All the best
