    Ignition timing on stroker engines

I couldn't find a clear cut topic about this and from my search on the web regarding this I get a consensus that everything else being the same, once an engine is stroked, ignition timing will require to be retarded due to the increase in piston speeds which in turn may provoke more pinging or knock.

In view of the above, and knowing that a lot of people who have done strokers also lowered the CR, is there anyone like me who stuck with OEM CR and what are they seeing with regards to boost and timing?

I'm in the process of building some boost on my short block stroker and I'm finding i have to use fairly less timing vs the OEM 2.2 timing map

    Thanks

Hi. It's been a long time since I looked at my car, but I think my timing map for the urq stroker is on here in my project thread. It melted due to timing/ping. On my urs4 with the efr7163 I remember the timing being set at almost 18 degrees. But then the heat and other compensation maps pulled this back to about 15 deg. This was ok on 95 octane, with a tall block stroker and about 8.15:1 compression. Car is still driving fine but is sold to a friend. What is your compression ratio? My car had some head work and upgrades valves if that matters.
