No power to the fuel pump

As per title
The story is i fitted a new fuel pump 3 months ago along with a new heavy duty relay and new battery , the pump is a walbro 450 the car has been running fine until last Thursday when the wife took the car to get fuel which is 7 miles away she said the E symbol came on half way there she got to tesco filled up and drove home no issues parked in the garage next morning i went to start the car but no joy left it a few minutes tried again started for a second and nothing left the car there ' tried over w/end by checking fuel delivery (none ) all fuses 'continuity to the pump 'relay and maf , did a vcds check nothing showing by then battery was dead got a problem with a bad earth somewhere anyway tonight had a chance to check voltage to the pump nothing wired pump straight off the battery and pump is working question is there anything else i need to check ?

Did you fit the pump yourself? Go over the wiring. If there is no voltage at feed before the new relay when cranking, check fuse and pump relay (original). If there is feed, the problem lies with the new relay, connection to pump or earth.

Hi Dave yes fitted it myself following rusty’s thread I tried the old relay and still no joy ?

You just need to check over all the wiring again.
Another possibility is that your original problem wasn't the fuel pump at all. Immobiliser?

Did you fit a new wire front to back when you put the relay in? I've not read all your threads to see if you mention it but, I know from experience that the original loom for the pump on mine failed. Somewhere there was a break in the power wire that I could never find so ran a new wire from the relay to the pump.

If you haven't run a new wire, add one of larger diametre when you do - the factory wire is really rather thin indeed.

No didn’t fit a wire but will do that tomorrow.

When you do that you might find it has been cut into for the immobiliser. Removing that might sort it.

Are both wires on 87a under fuse box live to the pump?

Couldn’t find the fault immobiliser probably I took The aftermarket alarm off 5 yrs ago so maybe the wire couldn’t take the power from the new pump so I fitted a thicker cable from fuse 13 to pump Bobs your uncle working fine probably my imagination but the car seems to pull a little better
