    Bosch Lamba LS02

After researching on here to find the correct lambda for my ABY, I found out it was the 'LS02'.
I then got one (very quickly I might add - thanks Middlesex Tuning Centre) for £47 delivered and when I opened the box, the sensor had 'LSH 24' printed on it. I immediately thought it was the wrong one and did a bit of internet digging :mischeif:
It appears that LS02 must be LSH24 as both have the same part number 0258986502
EXCEPT the LS02's part number is superseded with the code '-36Y'
according to the bosch parts list:
So does anyone know why this is?
Has LS02 been superseded by LSH24 or do I have the wrong part????
Any help for my paranoia much appreciated!
Oh, far right column is the part number for the general purpose equivalents.

Bit off topic but interestingly Vagparts list a different Lambda for the S2 Avant and RS2 than for the ABY and 3B coupe.

      Whats all that about?

Well, I fitted the new lambda will the slightly strange part number.
Anyhoo, runs fine and no fault codes so must be ok!?
            here's the old one:
Does it look well fooked or normal???

You been dipping it in icing sugar??? That doesnt look right to me, the picture of my old one I think is 'correct' as was from a healthy engine. I'd pull your spark plugs and see whats caked on them to see if its one in particular...

hmm, plugs seemed ok 2000 miles ago when i checked them.
I've only had the car for about 4000 miles so maybe the previous owner was using cack fuel? (I only use Shell V power)
The car seems to run well, although smells rich when I spank it (!) which is the main reason for replacing the lambda.
I think I'll leave it for another 5000 miles and check the lambda then....
Could this not be a result of using too low an octane fuel and the engine management over fuelling / retarding the ignition to compensate????

Just dug this little piece of info out:
"If the lambda sensor continually reads low (lean), it will cause the engine computer to richen the fuel mixture. Injector pulse width will increase causing fuel consumption and carbon monoxide emissions to go up. Constant rich fuel mixture can also cause the catalytic converter to overheat and it may be damaged."
So, if the lambda was fooked and the ecu was over fuelling to compensate - that would explain why it smelt so rich after a bit of 'excitable' driving!?
The article also says to check the resistance from lambda body to engine as it uses the engine as its negative (kind of obvious when I think about it!)
It says the lambda is stoichiometric at 0.45v - 0.5v.
