ABY ruff idle, will not restart when hot.

    Evening All,

Ive been reading lots of posts, but am struggling to get further forward, any advice greatly appreciated.

1st problem car would not start again when hot, messed about with fuel pump relay, and car started, one terminal was corroded, cleaned terminals inside fuse box, purchased and fitted new 2nd hand relay.

Had car idiling for 30mins or so when washing to charge battery, idle was fine, car just stopped, went to restart, battery didnt have enough in it to start. finished washing car, jump started again no problem, car still warm. checked charging voltage, was getting 13.8v. assumed maybe a drain of some sort, or just poor battery condition.

Charged battery with charged for a few days, started no problem twice from cold, took for +/- 20 min run well actually a test drive as Im selling the car, ran perfect. potentail buyer left, went to start car it was turning over and did fire but would not run.

Removed throttle body inlet and sprayed fuel directly into throttle body, car ran, lumpy and crap, but it ran. could hear fuel pump running, and had fuel at supply pipe. Left to cool, down, still would not start.

Removed all plugs, cheked had spark on all plugs, plugs were very wet though. suspect overfueling.

Checked for codes, had G28 as standard when not running, maf G70 signal too low-intermittent. Suspected originally when it was running poerfect when cold, it could be a temp sensor issue. Looked up the posts on here, which stated the G62 should have a resistance of ruffly 2700 ohms at ambient, then dropping down to +/-130 ohms at say 90 degrees. My sensor was saying 1.7 ohms at ambient and dropped down to 0.4 ohms when in 80-90 degree water. To me the fact it was varying in resistance and when watching the temp on VCDS it seemed right, starting about 20 degrees the slowly climbing to 49 degrees before car cut out again. Had issues with being off a cyclinder, pulled dryed and cleaned plugs, then ran again but very lumpy idle, would take revs but still seemed to be over feeling.

1st time i disconnected the maf it stalled 2nd time seemed to make no odds car still ran. Does the ecu have a default?
Also pulled the lamda probe and cleaned it, seemed very sooty, but its maybe only the second one Ive seen out, and with all the over fueling its to be expected.

Ive rulled out the G40 sensor and G28 as from what I have read on here it will not start at all without these signals.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated. Im getting a shot of a device that can simulte resistances, thought it might be useful, just need to know what values to go for.

    Thanks All.

Try renewing the Ignition amplifiers (ignition control modules) ?

When these get hot, the resistance increases and they don't function properly causing lumpy revs and misfire etc. And possibly starting issues if they are hot which they will be.
