    ADU too high oil pressure

    Hi S2forum

After a total rebuild of my engine, I have now got it started up again.
But I have WAY too high oil pressure, it blown my mocal oil cooler.

Now I have a new cooler, have had the relief valve out and removed shim. But it is still high, oil temp of 65-70 degrees and oil pressure is still at absolute max on gauge. Mobil one 5W50

I have tried to swap around the wires on the sensor, but then it goes to max without the engine being started.

    Can you help me ?

Hope you understand my English, thank you.

    Your English is very good.

Can you try a decent quality mechanical gauge to confirm the reading on the pressure gauge in the car? This would be the first thing to do IMO.

It could be some sort of fault with the relief valve, but I'd want to confirm the reading before trying to make a definitive diagnosis.

Could have been a duff first cooler combined with a dead F22 (I've seen them read flat out when they fail), though again this a wild guess without confirming what the oil pressure actually is.

I see you've added the oil your using, thanks for the extra info, a 5W50 should be fine for the climate in Denmark so this won't be the issue.

      Thanks for your reply.

I want to try a mechanical pressure gauge, is the only option to mount one down where F22 is?

It is difficult to get to because of the water cooler.

No problem. You can use either of the oil pressure sender hole's, upper or lower, however they're both in pretty much the same location and very hard to get at with all the plastic's in place, not a fun job unfortunately.
