Just hoping someone has an answer to our MAF replacements. Looking at prices for even re-manufactured ones is ridiculous and thats assuming they are in stock. I have just had another one go today with a broken wire (this one has lasted 3 years) and wonder if anyone has got the skills to retro fit a more modern, more robust version for the 20VT. ANy help appreciated.

I wish I could answer your question, but I'd also like to know if there's a more modern replacement that would fit and work as per OE.
I did bag one of the last ones from Audi Tradition a couple of years back when it was still possible to conduct trade with them (still hassle then though) which I'd guard with my life.
But it would be great if there was a solution to this as non of the reconditioned items seem to last long and some are plain awful.

Yes, I also bagged a supposedly brand new one from Audi tradition just over 2.5 years ago and it's this one that's just gone with one end of the wire come away.... Can these be soldered back on?

I also had a reconditioned one fail recently, however it's around 10 year old and done maybe 15k miles or so. The wire is still intact, just comes up with an intermittent fault after a few mins of running. I'll need to open it up to see if there's any suspect looking soldered joints visible. However I'd like to purchase another one to have in stock so watching this thread with interest.
If anyone wants my spare I'll let it go for £100 plus post
I will take you up on that as need it back on the road for a few shows. How old/what mileage has it done? I think pushing 400bhp through mine doesn't help its lifespan either to be honest despite it sitting in a larger 80mm housing!!!
I've used it on my car on and off over the years so guessing it will have at least 100,000 miles on it bud I will put it back on to check it's still working ok been sat in a box for the last year or two
I've been doing a bit of digging on this and our friends across the pond have used a Volvo Maf 0 280 213 012 which was plug and play on these 20V engines. Can anyone confirm if this is true?
