    Oil pressure switch trouble

    Hi,

Yesterday I went for a drive and when coming back in the last turn for my street I had a oil warning light that went away after blinking once, in my street I noticed oil pressure down to 2.5 bar and another new noise coming from the engine bay, something like pss, pss, pss, stoped the car and the back was full of oil and it was bleeding oil profusely, I had lost 3 liters in the journey home and luck avoided the worst, the warning light only lit because of the turn and I was driving slowly.
Never expected such a massive failure, a few drops or a litle oil but it was gushing out from around the plastic part of the switch and didn´t leak any before today.
So I bitte the bullet and spend today morning removing the radiator to reach the oil pressure switch, after removing the radiator started the car to confirm the leak and it was massive, How lucky was I that it happened in the way back just in time to arrive and not being stranded on the side of the road?

Monday I´ll go to the Audi dealer see if I can get an original because is a pita to get to and I don´t want to do it again in the near future, If Audi dosen´t have it what do you guys recomend?

    Thank you for reading.

Don't bother going to your Audi dealer they are no longer available from Audi since September 2016. Part number for the S2 is 056919081 Check ebay or you local motor factors as they are still available

When those one sender's fail like that they make a specular mess!!!

If one is weeping the slightest bit of oil change it immediately for a decent quality one.

The E revision was dropped back in 2007, no idea why so just look for the 056919081

If you want a branded switch then you can still buy them from VW classic parts https://www.volkswagen-classic-parts...ch?q=056919081

I got a Lucas branded one so far so good, but it's only done about 1500 miles so far but no leaks as yet. Buy one that you can get next day from a local factors. Then order one from classic. Least you will know you have a good know branded version if the aftermarket one fails.

                Update,

After shopping around for a new oil pressure sensor I could only find a FAE one for sale, WTF! all the shops only could get the FAE one, in the end I bought one and ordered a BERU one from germany to have in stock in case the FAE one fails,

Put it all toghether in half the time it took to dismantle and apart for a small coolant leak that I´ll solve once it cools down, everything seems fine, I didn´t put the undercover back on to control any leaks for a few days and I want to give the underside a good wash to remove all the oil that was spread under there.

In the end I was left with only 2 bolts and respective nuts as surplus, these are the ones that attach the AC condenser to the coolant radiator and are a pig to do and undo and as I recently did the condenser and took most of the time to do the job around these 2 bolts and in this one it was the same I replaced them with zip ties, easy to remove and replace if needed and do the job just fine, sorry to the purists.

Today did a test run and after a few drops of oil in the first stop, I thought the FAE was FAkEd, it went dry, no coolant or oil losses, it was some pool of oil that was nested somewhere and fell with movement, so for now all seems fine.
