after fitting a boost gauge and getting 1.1bar generally when throttled in 3rd,4th,5th, can anyone tell me if this figure is acceptable, as I have seen posts talking about figures from that up to 2 bar? Are these higher figures on modded engines, or can a (normal aby?!) run this kind of pressure consistently?

2bar is not normal unless your car is seriously modded.
Your boost figures are about right for a stock ABY. If you buy a home fry chip from s2central you will get about 1.4 bar boost. -
I had the car sold to me as 280hp chipped apparently.
Can this be plausible, with the standard boost figures that I have? If not I am on the hunt for boost leaks I guess.
Who does the leak test kits here, as I will buy one this week?

If your car was sold to you as a 280 car then your boost levels would be about 1.4 bar you could have a leak.
I would pressure test the system, there is a user on here selling them, do a search and you should find them I think it's AndyPComment

I think the posts you've seen about 2.0 bar boost readings may have been relating to the UrS4/S6 models.
They have a factory digital boost gauge that reads boost pressure including absolute pressure (1 bar). So the real boost fiqures will actually be around 1.0-1.2 bar for standard S4 & S6's.Comment
