    Yes, no problem...

And as a precautionary tip, have a spare gasket handy for the lower main rad thermocoupler coz sometimes, the original gasket shears when removing the rad.

    2 hour job though...

As David says, IME you need to have some string on a bungee handy to "tie" the AC rad out of the way once you have unclipped it from the main rad etc.

But yes it is possible without a re gas but I would allow 4 hours

      cheers,

      Steve.

no problem at all, like every one else said its a time consuming job!! bungee not essential but would be a great help!!
if you are replacing the current rad with a Nissens then take the time to re-tapp all the mounting hole's around the edge, will save swearing and time!!

if you buy from GSF its likely you will get a Nissens, i personally haven't had any problems with them but some people on here wouldnt recommend them. Think they are around £110 from GSF, but not sure how much from VAG, maybe worth a phone call.

I got mine re-cored for £100. Ended up being a lot heavier (it's now a copper and brass core) but I got a 2 year guarantee with it and so far it's been fine.
I'm going to do the same with my aux rad when i come to do my next coolant change as all the fins are falling out!

Dpicariello, have you got any pics of the re-cored rad?
how long did it take them to get it back to you?

                Jose.

Not got any pics of the rad whilst it was out, should've taken some I know. I can get one for you as it sits in the car but to be honest there's nothing particularly different about it.

The chap did mine in a day, he was very good. It's worth replacing the 3 rubber mounts (bottom, side and top) as well but these are about £3 from GSF.

Depends on where you rad has failed. Most common failure is the plastic end tanks in which case the rad can't be recored.
