94 URS4, replaced all coolant, vacuum hoses to silicone, new pcv items to help with a no start/idle issue I've been messing around with since owning this car. Honestly I need to do another boost leak test.
This was the issue:
1). Hard/longer start time than normal
2). Car battery old
3). When in 1st gear or reverse, going from 800rpm to 1500rpm is ok, 1500-2100rpm is where the idle jolts/blips with acceleration all of a sudden then goes away. CEL come on for 5 seconds then disappears.
4). A few times when backing up in reverse and then clutching in to stop/go forward the idle will go up suddenly as if I tapped the gas pedal and let off.
5). Engine code 2121 was consistent
6). Engine Coolant Aux Pump was broken/bypassed
7). Heater core cracked/broken/bypassed
8). When I move the harness left/right/down by the aux pump nothing happens but as soon as I lift up the car acts as if a boost/vacuum leak and Idle up 500rpm (This problem went away after I did all the silicon vacuum hoses)
9). Power Steering Pump whine, low fluid (1/8" below min line), leak/bubbling x-plug, screen in reservoir black, fluid dark jaeger mister green.
10). Not all the time but when I go and reverse and clutch in the car will idle up and down (hunting)
11). A few weeks back, I went to the store (15min max) shut the car off, do what I need to do, come back and start the car. Car cranks over quickly but never starts. I do this like 8 times till I hear the battery slowly drain. Get a flatbed home, sits for a week, I start replacing vacuum lines. Get done and she starts right up (could have been the cold helping out or vacuum leaks being repaired)
Things done to the car prior to ownership:
• Aftermarket AEM dry flow air filter (air box delete)
• ALUM Turbo Inlet
• Complete stromung exhaust system from downpipe to muffler
• Aftermarket GM 3bar Map Sensor soldered to motronic ecu
• 034 STG 1 Chip
• 034 2.0T FSI Coil Conv
• 034 2.0T FSI Harness
• 034 Billet Diverter Valve
• Newer Bosch O2 sensor spliced in
• devise right next to stock fuel filter location & air filter wiring capped off??
Things I have replaced since owning the car (6mo):
• 034 billet pcv valve
• New oem "pancake" valve & cleaned old oem copper flame detector in PCV tube
• Old oem MAF cleaned, not sure if it is clocked correctly
• Old oem ISV cleaned and WD-40 so the seal doesn't dry rot
• All new silicone hoses for boost/vacuum
• All new silicone hoses for coolant system
• New oem TPS
• New EFI billet coolant parts
• New EFI billet throttle cam (when I installed this the old oem TPS started to work but then would throw a CEL off and on)
• New 034 fuel pump relay (back ordered will ship March so not installed yet)
• New spark plugs (NGK BKR-7EIX)
• New fuel filter
• New oem FPR
• New x-plug o-ring, PS reservoir screen cleaned, New CHF-11S fluid
• Trans, diff, engine, coolant, brake fluid, PS fluid, have all been changed
Any insight would be helpful. I've cruised on many forums looking, Quattroworld, Audizine, S2forum, etc. Some people I talk to say it s a boost leak issue (which I will be checking again here soon), another said its a sign of a failing ISV, & some others say grounding issue. What do you guys think?
