    Radator flush?

Has anyone any experience/good results using a radator flush?

    Or is it best avoided?

I've filled it with water a couple of times, run then drained and it still seems pretty dirty stuff coming out of it.

Is there any good way of cleaning it out really well?

Also, any way of getting brown stain/muck off the expansion tank? Or is a new tank the best solution?

I've heard some advice a while ago about putting dishwasher tab in the cooking system and then draining?

I've used both Holts and Celit with good results. If you can get a new bottle I would.
I wouldn't put a dish washer tablet in as it might contain salt.

      Thanks for that!

Don't suppose you know the coolant capacity of the b2 type 85 CQ?

No, but not as much as you think and you never get it all out. Going for a 50/50 mix, put 2 ltr of neat antifreeze in followed by 2 ltr of distilled water. Top up with 50/50 mix. I think the Ur capacity was about 6 ltr but i only ever got about 5 in.

I’ve always used Holts or Wyns basic flush, stick a couple of bottles in, drive it for a week then drop it and attack all the hoses with a garden hosepipe paying particular attention to the heater matrix and Aux radiator if fitted. If you have time remove the main rad, turn it upside down and back flush it until the discharge is clear.

Buy a new expansion tank as Dave suggests, it would also be a good time to fit a new Behr thermostat.
