The Garrett 2871 is great choice and will do a bit more than 400bhp with very little lag.

However if you want to stick with a bolt straight on KKK journal bearing turbo Vidar Stockhiem on here makes some really tasty hybrids, he’s got a highly modified stock K24 7000 that looks OE on the outside but will apparently out perform a stock RS2 turbo.

I’ve got a billet compressor wheel RS2 K24 7200/K26 56mm exit hybrid turbo freshly rebuilt with paperwork that’s never been run sat doing nothing. That will just about make 400bhp with 440 injectors, drop me a PM if you want more details.

Got a 7000 hybrid from it, not bad turbos but I still wonder how they compare to a newer borg warner efr or 2871r.
Feels like the torque is dropping quite heavy on the KKK's but rather fast spooling. But for a driveable car it might be better with the kkk.

The newer Borg Warner turbo's are another good option, I'm going be using a special billet wheel quick spool K04 of their's on my 1.8T project.

I'll have to have a think about price, will check out what it costs to send it to Norway as that alone could scupper a deal.

Sorry for the slow reply, I've had a very busy week building whilst we've had a window of dry weather just at the right time.

25% import tax is a killer, postage with proper insurance is well over 50 Euro's on top of the turbo which would be around £600.

The turbo I've got is also pretty laggy compared to stock K24 7200 due to the larger, heavy, K26 Turbine and shaft...

TTE do some very nice upgraded RS2 turbo's but they're not bloody cheap.

Been looking at TTE but find it a bit expensive when you compare it to similar gtx gen 2 or EFR.
K26 is too large for what I want

Indeed, TTE know how to charge though I've never heard ill of them, not knocking the Garret or EFR options, they're both excellent manufacturer's and the GT/X 2871 is very quick spooling, just make sure the oil feed is has the correct restrictor.

I'm simply a really big fan of the old KKK journal bearing turbo's as they look stock, fit like stock so are plug and play and are very hard to damage as they'll withstand serious abuse for hours on end as long as long as the oil is decent quality and changed every 5K miles. I ran the K26/7 on my RS2 hard for probably 4K and it withstood 1.7bar peak pressure with no DV, sounded cool but doesn't do the turbo any favours.

Likewise the K24 7200 I had attached to my 3B S2 was running a seriously aggressive boost profile for a good 40K miles driven very hard as I had some crazy custom software for it, basically a lot of 2bar action, That ECU broke the new owners engine but he like's the mapping so much he rebuilt it with H beams and is still running it to this day... The turbo I used was a low mileage secondhand unit from Germany and was in just as good a shape when removed as when I installed it five years previous.

I have all the parts here to build up a nice billet comp wheel K24 7400. Including a complete brand new core, crack free Porsche turbine housing which will be vapor blasted along with the Volvo cold side which I modify to fit a stock RS2/S2 turbo-intercooler hose. Comes with balancing paper work from Turbo Technics, that will make 380bhp at a push with very little lag, that one is £500.

And speaking of turbo's I've just picked up a shop soiled Borg Warner billet comp wheel K04 001 for my 1.8T engine build after getting a mega bargain from an eBay seller I trust and have been trading with/following for years. Was going to use a Chinese 2871 clone which I have already in stock but given what I paid for the brand new genuine Borg Warner K04 it was a no brainier.

Sounds good Sorry for delayed reply. been away.

Looks like the TTE420 is something I want but Im not sure yet what im gonna buy
Transient response on an EFR is probably quite good compared to older KKK or Garretts, but a bit steep price now a days for an EFR

No worries, those TTE 420 turbo's are excellent but you don't really need to spend that much for the power and torque your after, it's still hard to beat a well mapped stock RS2 turbo for your goals and it all simply bolts straight on and looks stock to an untrained eye. Though sadly gone are the days when you could pick up a good secondhand one for £500, new ones are available as I'm sure you're aware but they're a £1K+.

If you're interested in my billet wheel K24 7400 please drop me a PM and I'll send you pic's of the housings inside and out, the new core and balancing paper work.

I spent a long time evaluating the possibility of buying an RS2 turbo, the problem was that for less money you had in gt2871R that I bought with k24 exhaust, which in addition to needing few adaptations, charges from below and has the same power as the RS2. If it hadn't been for customs I would have bought the one from Vidar but in the end I didn't know what it could cost me with customs and so on.

How does the gt2871r with k24 exhaust feels like? recommend it?

Hello and sorry I thought I had answered you. I'm currently assembling it because after removing the cylinder head I decided to put forged cranks for this turbo and the work has been very long.
Currently I already have the turbo mounted and the oil and water lines made in the absence of mounting distribution and other things and starting, you finally what turbo installed? Thank you and best regards
