Hi Guys, Have just replaced the starter motor with a Bosch manufactured item just last week. Now I get a clunk when turning the key, nothing else…. Battery is in good shape.. it’s intermittent, some times it starts first turn on f the key, then after a run it just clunks….. I am suspecting a faulty starter motor but is there any other things to check first …. Appreciate the advice !
If it's sporadic as you say then I'd start by checking the connections on the starter are tight, both the main lead and the spade connector as well as the battery terminals.
You can quickly check the starter is functional and getting enough power insitu by bridging the connections on it with a short spanner/screwdriver.
Pop the small spade connector off the solenoid then leaving the ignition OFF jump power across from the main 13mm high Amp connection to the male spade, if it spins then the problem is elsewhere. Be really careful that the car is out of gear and don't touch anything else metal with whatever you use.

Thanks guys, the battery is new so not the issue. I get a clunk on turning the ignition so I am sure it’s the starter but need to check the terminals to be certain. Will report back on the outcome when I get it sorted, probably in the new year…??
