Its probably worth making a few calls to see if an engineering firm can replace the liner instead, would probably work out cheaper than a new block too

So it looks like I am in need of a new block, and an afull lot of help and incouragement ,or I think I might just reace for the revolver.
What do I do now, new or recondistioned if so from where, do I try and find a second hand block, or sell the car and cut my losses. I have to say I am loosing the faith right now.
ok. This is a mighty ******
Difficult to know what to suggest mate. But DONT lose the faith
Probably your best bet is to see if you can get the block repaired. Of course...the rest of the engine is going to have to come out now anyway so you can take it to a local engine recon/repair firm and see what they can do. Fitting a liner, rebore, hone and new piston rings may just cure your problems.
Try ringing through this list and see if they can help?
Enginer reconditioners and engineers in Ipswich
If they cant, decision time. But I would ring ALl Audi n Bristol and ask them if they have a block or an S2 engine only (no running gear etc). Then you could drop that in, sell your remaining engine bits to recoup some of the cost..then celebrate or sell the car depending how p*ssed off you are!

I have found someone to do the head , but he says that the block is not worth doing
so it looks like I defo need another bottom end,so the oppstions are new block =to much money, used and not reconditioned, excange reconditioned,if there is such a thing,or find a block and recondistion my self, may be for big horse power ,and use my RS2 money,or find some one to buy my car as it is and buy an RS2,or just take the easy route and shoot my self, or even worse think about buying a BMW, NO i CAN'T BARE THE THOUGHT, please help.

ok. Does the guy who says the block is not worth doing know how much a new one is?? (may be worth trying a few other places to see if they all share the same opinion?)
All audi as S2driverUk says is the best place to start. They may only have a whole engine though...so you could be looking at replacing the whole unit and flog you old one for parts....(or keep it)

Option two is to buy an AAT block and build a stroker motor Requiring cost of new conrods, stock pistons can be used if machined (only theoretical...not tried it) but you are entering the realms of a fair bit of work to build even a "stock" stroker motor (as in no big turbo etc). See the fabulous thread by Pisobiker.
The sell your car option Tempting at this time but think of the hours you have into it.Your neeeaaaarly there to getting her running right.got to be! if you did sell you would also stand to lose a lot financially but cutting your losses is one route?
The easy route to shoot yerself is tempting Im sure. But will prevent future RS2 ownership and enjoyment so bin that one off . Buying a bmw...well..Im a massive bimmer fan so I cant fault you there

Have you rung allaudi yet? also would certainly be worth PMing sal_s2 on the forum as he may have an engine

I wonder if anyone knows whether the s2 block is unique to the s cars,or is it the same block on some of the other I5s the cranck is the same on many I know,if they are the same shorly it would be cheaper, and easier to find. Anyway thanks for your help guys I can assure you its much needed and appressiated

Lou, i think the block from a 10v UR (mc) will work, it is the same deck height as the all the I5 blocks (220mm) that is, but would need to machined to accept the pistons, crank, rods will fit. some other parts from the 3B block would need to be changed
                        sump, oil filter housing, ect

                        (MC) bore size is 79.5mm (3B) = 81mm

                        Hope this helps
