Well I have to say I am struggeling now, I am so close ,and I know where most things go,but the best route for things is a differant matter. Knowing which way round to do things is the problem, esspecialey around the back, which wire go's over where, which pipe go's under what, its a bloody nightmare for a novice, if only I had a diagram or something to look at, I have my s6 which helps but its very differant to the 3b.
I must say for anyone attemting this sort of project wright every thing down ,and don't rely on your mem'ory or photograhps, its to easy to route a pipe the wrong way and have it rub on something and wair through.
Well better get my head under the bonnet and piss a few more things up.

          Keep the faith Lou

You've done well considering this is your first time doing such a major overhaul
I agree on the photographs and making notes though . I also have a big biscuit tin full of new sealable bags (like drug bags!!) that I label and put nuts and bolts from parts as I go along.
Helps to avoid having those "couple of bolts" left over at the end of a job where you cannot find where the heck they came from

I have worked on this car from 5.30 this morning till 10oclock tonight, all done, turned the key, nothing. I think its the starting motor, it dropped into the oil I had drained, got it out pretty quick and cleaned it and it seemed ok so I fitted it.I turned the lights on to check if the battery was ok, lights seemed ok turned the key lights went out.so I am chargeing the battery overnight, and will try again tomorrow. ******

I will start with the good news, she is running ,ticks over oh so quiet, oil pressure real good, the bad news found water running out under the car, tried to open the bonnet, would'nt open, two hours latter, with the bonnet open at last, I checked every thing could'nt find the leak turned out to be from the back of the head, the water spout that bolts to the back of the engine.its the one that came on the aan block.plastic, not metal, I left it on, because the 3b one was coroded, big mistake,it had a crack right on the o ring seam and I could'nt see it at first and nearlyre fitted it tinking it was the o ring, changed it for the metal one,and it was ok.
So I set of on a test drive gave it just a little throttle, and it was'nt haveing any of it,drives fine until you push the throttle, then it just grumbles and won;t go,I have been over everything and can't find the cause.
tomorrow I will swap a few things over from my s6 and see how I get on.but with all new censors, n75,dump valve, g28, knock sensors ,samcos and vacuum hoses, I just don't know where to look,
Anyone with any ideas I realy could do with a bit of help right now.

                  Cheers Lou

great news that she's running lou

Are there any forum members that live near you who could maybe take a look at the problem?

Do you have a full set of Samcos on the car? could it be a boost leak?

First job I would do is to Vagcom the car.

I would check your vacuum pipes setup and the amf sensor, this was the cause of similar problems in my own S2?

It was the maf, I fitted the one from my s6 and the car flys.I suppose the only place to get one is the steelers, how much wonder. Unless anyones got one for sale.

I feal a remap coming on and maybe some bigger brakes,or should I get a bigger turbo, got the bug now
