Found this tool at work it is for removing crankshaft bolts on VW T4 vans

Just put into crank and insert a deep 27mm socket hold the tool and undo the bolt

I had a engineer mate of mine make one of the crank holder tools for me ,consits of a sturdy piece of steel tube and the end that locks into the crank pulley was made from a section of old hydraulic ram turned down ,cost me nothing !!!!!!! but im sure you could get a similar one made for 20 or 30 quid.

Made mine from a piece of iron pipe from a plumber, and a piece of U profile iron. Grinded the pieces into right shape, and got a mate to weld it up. Works perfectly.

I've got an official VW crank locking tool but it dont fit my car with air-con

Have to try that mod that was posted on the forum.

Where / what did you get the other tool to tightened / undo the nut?

How did you get the nut done back up to 450 nm?

This is how I did it, and it worked well for me, but if you do this don't blame me if it goes wrong! And those who know, please feel free to comment if this is a OK method or not?

I bought a cheap 3/4" wrench and 27(?)mm socket and used a 1,5m long rectangular profile iron to get leverage. I supported the front of the setup and used my own body weight as torque load (Approx. 90kg) @0,5 meter leverage (with the wrench and "extensioner" horizontal) gives 45 kGm or cirka 450 Nm. Remember first to wash the 27mm bolt with aceton and apply LocTite on the threads.

The big bar is a torque wench and the socket is also a VW tool tool that fits perfectly inside the holding tool so if u just pull the wench and push the holding tool is easy 2 do up to 450nm
