Hot oil, and heat in general

    Hi,

For some reason my coupe became very hot . I'm getting very hot oil gauge readings, while normal driving and autocrossing-X (don't know how exactly in english, you know, driving between the cones). Same problem in highway, when driving around 100kmph oil is still 120-130C.

Also engine gets warm and hot - very rapidly. It pulls and feels ok, boost is normal.

I have narrow band lambda indicator, checked it whilst driving in highway, mixture is in narrow band range (read OK). Don't know if I can trust it but at least it shows me that.

I've also tried to stop, and to spill some drops of water on the oil radiator. Should it boil there, when oil is ~120C? No boiling, just slow wapourizing.

Also has anyone expierenced 5 cyl. oil temp sensor failure? I've never heard about that.

I know, that somewhere in the oil filter housing there is an oil thermostat. Does someone know how to check it?

One more thing, I'm know running bigger intercooler and with very restrictive stock typ85 quattro exaust system (should avoid the cops ). Can this lead to the turbo overheating, and heating oil together with everything under the bonnet?

Could it be fuel pump? But as far I understand, I should run lean only in WOT modes, and not on the highway, when fuel consumption is minimal.

No error codes from moronic. I'm running fully stock ECU now.

    Sau

Just check with your hand that oil cooler gets hot when oil temp reach ~90

Yes, it's hot, but not as hell, I can hold my finger on it for a part of the second and it doesn't get burned . But thank's for idea, if cooler is hot, then it means thermostat is not the issue. One reason less. I will try to measure impedance of sensor on my 3b, but is hard to get old cow to heat the oil. And snow today is only in the air, not on the ground .
