    Oil pressure issue

    G'day,
My car has been suffering from a bit of neglect this last 2 years with me migrating and renting for the last 2 years . The last month or so when i start the car it takes 12-15 seconds for the oil pressure to shoot up to its usual 5 bar, i am sure it never took this long before , when the car is left for a few hours at work it shoots up immediately, but overnight (12-14 hrs) the problem re-occurs.
I also have a few other issues such as it takes for ages to respond, i.e. when it starts i let it tick over untill oil pressure is up and had 5 secs to circulate, sometimes it labours at 400-500 revs until all of a sudden it jumps up to 900 ish (normal tick over.) When i squeeze the throttle be it very lightly or moderately, tickover drops to 400-500 and it slowly labours itself up from there. After 30 seconds of driving its fine, good stable tickover, 5 bar pressure.
I have just bought my first ozzie house with a wicked size workshop which i plan to put 2 small scissor lifts in (The small ones which sit one under each sill). I come home to UK for 4 weeks in 4 weeks, my missus is making a husband out of me and were getting married. (Plus having one week in New York on the way there and a week in Thailand on the way back). So when i get back here after my trip, i will be buying an engine stand and a few other bits and bobs, and would like to know if there is anyone in this part of the world who can map these cars? KarlBlueS2 isnt an S2 owner anymore, he has a WRX?? last i heard, he would have been the one to contact but i have lost his details.
    Cheers
    Graham

Obvious thing to check is the pressure regulator on the oil pump. It may be sticking open bypassing the pump to a degree

Thanks Greg, when i get back from the UK i will be removing the engine, i might have access to some 3" titanium thin wall pipe (1.5mm) and cast 1.5mm elbows, so i am thinking of making a down pipe out of this, a welding guru at work says it Tig welds beautifully--If that doesnt work out then its S/S as the oem one i have is crap and gives me greif. The car will be coming off the road for a while as i live close to work, and can pedal. So its time for manifolds, turbo's, injectors, fuel pumps, intercoolers and all the gubbins to make my car happy again.

Do an oil flush and oil and filter change sounds like the pick up is a bit gunked up from standing about. If it was teh pressure bypass valve stuck open the isse would be more prominent when hot.

Will do at the weekend--poor old girl has had a hard 2 years kicking 90% of these ozzie V8's arses all over--she needs some TLC (In the form of bigger turbo, rods, pistons, intercooler, injectors) maybe not the rods as i want 380-400Hp
