Hi Guys
wonder if anyone has any quick thoughts on this one! Went to start the S2 this afternoon and as soon she fired up I noticed the engline was idling way too high at around 1500 revs which then crept up higher to around 2K. Might have actually gone higher but I killled the ignition and tried again. This time the engine turned over (a few times more than usual), fired up and then instantly died – revs never got above about 300. Kept doing this until I gave a little throttle as I turned the ignition on then it did fire up and run, but at lower revs at idle, around 600. Giving a little pep with the gas seemed to help and settle things to more or less normal idling.
Went out for a short run (I was actually wanting to bed in the new rear discs and pads Ive just put on) – and all seemed normal. But it was just the same, starting up then dying instantly when I parked up and tried the ignition again. She will start, but only if I give a little throttle - so something aint right!!
Need to get the codes pulled to get a proper idea but probably wont manage that for a few days, so any insight in the meantime welcomed!
Cheers

Not that Im complaining in that respect, but its obviously something intermittent!

Havnt been anywhere near the engine bay otherwise all week.
The car had stood for a couple of days when I first had the problem so that must have something to do with it. First chance I get I'll remove the ISV and give it a good clean
One of those things I never got round to doing, tho I think it was a little simpler on the 7a!!
