S2 vs RS2 pistons and rods

    Hi
    A little noob questions.
Are Pistons and rods from the S2 and the RS2 the same? If not what are max power on both type pistons and rods?
    Thanx.

The ABY S" and RS2 ones are the same.

    The 3B has different rods

It's not power it's torque that is the problem with the rods 600nm max bhp up to 600 in some cases.

      Just to be sure:
3B are the early S2, and ABY are the late R2 and RS2, right? All pistons are the same but the ABY ave stronger rods?
      Thanx

According to the family album the rods are the same for all 20V 2226/2309 applications (turbo and NA) from 1987 through 1996.

The pistons are the same, and ive heard people say that the rods are the same, but ive also heard other people say that 3B rods are stronger. Go figure. Even if the rods are slightly different, i'd say that they are no stronger. I certainly wouldnt want to run them to 600nm.

Just to settle this, 3B(S2), ABY(S2) and ADU(RS2) ALL share the same con rods AND pistons.

The part numbers are as follows................

            034 107 065M.................. piston (1)
            027 198 401C................... con rod set (5 of)
S2 Avant......fully loaded   Slipper Wagons Rule !!!!!

they are ALL the same, but however, in approx MY 1995/96 some vehicles rods would bend with high torque. These were nicknamed "banana rods". It different affect all cars, may have been a batch of rods that were made not as strong as they should have been??

some conrods are NOT revolverbored, and some have this option( small bore up to the wristpin from corrodsbearing)
400hp(380) and 500nm are the limit for audi conrods anyway.....
